Circle City Magic :: About Us

Q: Who's the man behind the curtain running Circle City Magic?

A: Actually, it's a man AND a woman--Chris and Heather Wilcox, the husband-and-wife team working diligently to fill all your magic needs! Chris is the one with the technical know-how and hands-on magic experience. Heather is the "face" of the company who sends out order confirmation messages, shipping quotes, and so forth.

Q: Where are you located?

A: We're based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Q: Do you have a brick-and-mortar store?

A: Nope, we're strictly online, running this entire enterprise from our home office (and living room, and dining room, and anywhere we can find space for all the inventory and packing materials and other assorted items needed to run a small business).

Q: Why are you called Circle City Magic?

A: Fun fact of  the day--Indianapolis is known as "the Circle City" because the city's designer, who apprenticed with Pierre L'Enfant as he designed Washington, D.C., originally designed the city around a circular plot that would house the governor's mansion. While the governor's mansion was never built on that spot, it does now hold the impressive Solders & Sailors Monument that gave the area the nickname "Monument Circle" and became a symbol of the city. So it's an homage to our hometown, and we liked the way it sounded.

Q: How long have you been involved with magic?

A: Chris has been studying magic and sleight-of-hand for roughly 10 years now. He also collects books to add to his growing magic library.

Q: What made you decide to start this business?

A: Chris decided to take the plunge and start his own magic business for a few reasons: First, there aren't too many brick-and-mortar magic stores around in general, let alone stores that sell specialized items that go beyond the basics. Second, he was often dissatisfied with the level of customer service he experienced with various dealers over the years, so he decided to become part of the solution instead of part of the problem by working to create the type of magic store he himself would like to patronize. Heather's role in the building of the empire is to take Chris's ideas and help make them a reality by handling all the mundane details that an idea-man might overlook.
